The Echo 8 Trilogy Is Relaunching on Discord to Build a Global Community

For the past several years, the Echo 8 Trilogy has been more than a series of films.

It has been a movement powered by community.

What began as a $6,500 independent action film evolved into a trilogy spanning three feature films, dozens of workshops, hundreds of participants, and a growing international audience. Along the way, we've learned that filmmaking doesn't have to happen behind closed doors. It can be collaborative, accessible, and community-driven.

As we move closer to the release of Five By Five and Echo 8 Beyond, we're excited to announce the relaunch of the Echo 8 Trilogy Discord Community.

From a Facebook Group to a Global Network

For years, the Echo 8 Trilogy community has existed as a private Facebook group.

What started as a small gathering of supporters has grown to more than 144 members and counting, bringing together actors, filmmakers, martial artists, creatives, and supporters from around the world.

The group has been invaluable in helping us share updates, organise workshops, recruit collaborators, and document the journey of building an independent film trilogy from the ground up.

But as the community has grown, we've realised we want to create something bigger.

We don't just want a space where people follow the Echo 8 Trilogy.

We want a space where people can build agency, develop their own creative projects, find collaborators, and celebrate each other's successes.

The inspiration for this next step came through my work as a Community Leader with the Sundance Collab.

One of the most impressive things about the Sundance Collab is how it has cultivated a thriving network of more than 4,000 active members. It isn't simply a place where filmmakers consume content. It's a place where they connect, learn, share opportunities, ask questions, support one another, and grow together.

Seeing that model in action made me realise that the Echo 8 community could evolve into something similar—an ecosystem where independent creators are empowered to take ownership of their own creative journeys while contributing to a larger collective movement.

Why Discord?

Traditional social media is great for broadcasting updates, but it's not always great for building meaningful connections.

Discord gives us a place where filmmakers, actors, action enthusiasts, creatives, supporters, and audience members can gather in one space and participate in the journey together.

Instead of simply watching from the sidelines, community members will be able to:

  • Connect with fellow creatives from around the world

  • Access behind-the-scenes updates

  • Participate in discussions about filmmaking and storytelling

  • Attend online events and community meetups

  • Meet cast, crew, and collaborators

  • Share their own creative projects

  • Join watch parties and virtual screenings

  • Help spread awareness of the trilogy through our Ambassador Initiative

This isn't just a fan group.

It's a creative community built on participation.

A Global Community-Powered Experiment

One of the core ideas behind the Echo 8 Trilogy has been that filmmaking can be built through community rather than traditional gatekeepers.

Over the years we've hosted free workshops, open rehearsals, community screenings, crowdfunding campaigns, and collaborative productions that brought together people from different backgrounds, skill levels, and countries.

Discord is the next step in that evolution.

Our vision is to create a space where someone in Las Vegas can collaborate with someone in Sydney, where aspiring filmmakers can learn from experienced professionals, and where audiences can become active participants in the storytelling journey.

Most importantly, we want to create a culture where people celebrate not only the Echo 8 Trilogy but also each other's work. Whether you've written a screenplay, produced a short film, launched a podcast, photographed a project, or are simply taking your first creative steps, we want the community to be a place where those achievements are recognised and encouraged.

Introducing the Echo 8 Ambassadors

The relaunch will also coincide with the launch of the Echo 8 Ambassadors Initiative.

As we enter release mode, we're inviting passionate supporters to help grow the movement.

Ambassadors will help:

  • Promote screenings and events

  • Share trailers and posters

  • Organise local watch parties

  • Introduce new people to the community

  • Support grassroots marketing efforts

  • Champion independent filmmaking

Every month we'll host Ambassador meetings where members can receive project updates, connect with fellow ambassadors, and gain access to exclusive previews, sneak peeks, and community opportunities.

The Bigger Picture

The Echo 8 Trilogy has always been about more than making movies.

It's about exploring what happens when communities come together to create something bigger than themselves.

The films are one part of the story.

The people are the other.

As we prepare for upcoming screenings in Australia, Las Vegas, and beyond, we're inviting everyone to join us on the next stage of the journey.

The future of independent filmmaking may not be built by a handful of gatekeepers.

It may be built by communities.

And we're excited to see where this experiment takes us.

See you on Discord.
